Government
The spartan government is an Oligarchy, meaning only few people hold power. The government controls all. Nobles use force to get lower classes to obey.
Two kings headed a Council of Elders. The council included: 28 citizens over the age of 30, presented laws to and assembly. The assembly was made up of all spartan men over the age 30. They voted on laws proposed from the Council of Elders. They chose ephors to enforce laws and collect taxes.
Military
Spartan boys started training for the military at age 7. They would be able to come home at the age of 30, but still be in the military till the age of 60.
The military was VERY IMPORTANT.Sparta is also known for its elite soliders. The women would do sports so they can be fit mothers. (Fit mothers.. fit boys for the military.)
Religion
The Spartans were polythesim.
They believed in many gods.
Honoring the gods was very important.
Family Life
Boys learned to read and write, but most emphasis put on becoming a good solider in the Spartan military.
Girls had little schooling -- Too busy becoming stronger and raising little soilder boys. Spartan girls were trained in sports so they can be healthy mothers. They were very fit. Spartan women had more freedom than any other Greek women. They can even own property!

Honored gods and goddesses by training mind and bodies. Held sports competition - most famous was The
Olympics. Women and girls practice sports in order to become strong mothers.
